Growing up an only child, the only person I had to turn to a lot of the time was myself when it came time to play, but how was I supposed to do that? I would read, draw, watch anime, dress up, make clothes, vidoes, stories, anything I could just to do something. It’s crazy how everything I did made me the weird black girl. Being an only child, I had no social skills, never engaged with kids my own age outside of school. As I grew up, I just accepted it as a so it would hurt a little less, It’s even crazier to think that everything that made me feel less alone is what connected me to the the people I have now. Being passionate about the content I make and what I do is what makes me continue to push forward. I want to be a symbol that it’s okay to feel like an outlier, that’s it’s okay to authentic to themselves and how to hold their own when they think there’s no one willing to hold it for them, that all they need to do is be patient, their tribe is coming.
